The Lowell PA250A is a rackmount power amplifier built for installed sound professionals who need reliable paging and background music amplification in commercial, institutional, and enterprise environments. Delivering 250 watts continuous RMS into a 4 ohm load, it integrates directly with distributed speaker systems via its rear-panel switchable 25V/70V output transformer, eliminating the need for an external transformer in most installations.

System integrators and AV contractors will find the PA250A especially well suited for telephone paging applications. A balanced telephone paging input and a 600 ohm balanced line level input are both included, and an automatic music ducking circuit mutes the auxiliary music source whenever a paging signal is present at either input. This behavior is handled entirely within the amplifier, reducing system complexity and the need for external priority controllers.

The PA250A is also designed to complement Lowell MA Series mixer-amplifiers, allowing integrators to expand system power without replacing existing infrastructure. A high-impedance unbalanced auxiliary input with parallel RCA connectors accommodates background music sources. An optional low-cut filter for horn or trumpet-style paging speaker protection is accessible via a circuit board jumper, giving installers granular control over speaker longevity. All primary controls, including master volume, main power switch, and circuit breaker, are located on the rear panel behind tamper-resistant access to maintain system integrity in public-facing environments.
