The Neutrik NE8MX-1 is designed for audio engineers, systems integrators, and production technicians who need to protect Ethernet connections in demanding commercial and touring environments. It accepts most standard RJ45 plugs on non-preassembled cables, providing a field-upgradeable path to etherCON-standard robustness without requiring purpose-built cable assemblies.

In live production and installed AV applications, unprotected RJ45 connectors are a common point of failure — susceptible to accidental disconnection, physical breakage, and latch damage. The NE8MX-1 addresses this directly with a rugged nickel diecast shell, a chuck-type strain relief boot, and a locking mechanism that secures connections against unintentional disconnection. This makes it well suited for stage-edge Ethernet runs, digital snake systems, AoIP networks, and any infrastructure where connection reliability is critical.

Unlike preassembled etherCON cable solutions, the NE8MX-1 gives technicians full control over cable length and termination, making it the preferred choice when custom-length runs are required. Note that this carrier does not intermate with CAT6 chassis connectors NE8FDY-C6 or NE8FDY-C6-B, and does not include an RJ45 plug — it is a carrier only for existing field-terminated assemblies.
