The ProCo Sound TradeTools Audio-Visual Interface is built for AV coordinators, system integrators, and house engineers who routinely connect laptops, DVD players, cassette decks, and other consumer playback devices to installed or portable PA systems in auditoriums, lecture halls, boardrooms, and civic venues. Rather than patching mismatched signal levels with adapters or accepting noise from ground loops, this unit handles the conversion and isolation in one rugged box.
Three input connector types — 1/4" TRS phone, dual RCA phono, and 3.5mm stereo mini — accept signals ranging from nominal -10 dBV consumer sources to higher-level line and speaker outputs, with all inputs resistively mixed to monaural before processing. The DBT-1 transformer delivers a floating 150-ohm balanced output via a standard 3-pin XLR male connector, and an additional unbalanced 1/4" line output feeds recorders or secondary systems without interrupting the main signal path. A GND/LFT switch handles AC ground loop hum at the source rather than downstream.
The Uni-box enclosure — extruded aluminum side channels, 16-gauge steel top, bottom, and end plates, black textured powder coat, and a Lexan panel overlay — resists physical damage in rental and institutional environments while providing the magnetic shielding critical for transformer-equipped signal interfaces. Slotted side channels allow multiple TradeTools units to stack or strap together for clean rack-adjacent deployment.
