The ProCo Sound CDPB Panic Button is an active microphone signal routing and muting device built for vocalists, praise ministers, public speakers, and instrumentalists who need hands-free or foot-operated control over their mic signal during live performance. It accepts any balanced or floating low-impedance microphone source and routes the signal between two XLR outputs — Output A for front-of-house and Output B for stage monitors or a personal mix — without introducing switching noise. Phantom power from the FOH console continues to reach condenser microphones even when the signal is routed to Output B, eliminating the need for a separate phantom source on stage.
Installed in broadcast trucks, houses of worship, corporate presentation environments, and touring rigs alike, the CDPB earns its place on stage because of its configurable operating modes. Dip switches in the battery compartment select between A/B routing, momentary push-to-talk, momentary push-to-mute, and latching mute — no tools required. A gain trim in the same compartment sets the level of Output B independently, and a status LED gives an instant visual read: green for active/Output A, red for muted/Output B. The steel enclosure — 16-gauge top, 11-gauge base — provides genuine magnetic shielding against 60 Hz hum fields, a real advantage in environments with dense power runs or stage lighting dimmers. Should the 9V battery fail mid-show, the circuit automatically defaults back to Output A so the mic stays live.
