The ProCo Sound CDSS Short Stop is a passive momentary microphone muting switch built for engineers and operators who need reliable, noiseless signal interruption without introducing any active components into the signal path. With no batteries or phantom power required, it inserts cleanly into any balanced or floating low-impedance microphone line and integrates seamlessly into an existing cable run using standard XLR connections.

The Short Stop is purpose-built for environments where split-second muting is critical: broadcast booths, sports commentary positions, disc jockey setups, corporate boardrooms, and live entertainment stages. The momentary action means the signal is muted only while the switch is held down and resumes the instant it is released, giving the operator precise control without the risk of leaving a channel accidentally silenced. The unit can be operated by hand on a tabletop or placed on the floor and triggered by foot, making it adaptable to a wide range of workflow positions.

The enclosure construction prioritizes both durability and electrical performance. A 16-gauge steel top and 11-gauge steel base deliver the structural integrity needed for remote broadcast and touring applications, while the steel shell itself provides magnetic shielding against 60Hz AC hum. Non-conductive anti-skid feet keep the unit stable during foot actuation, and top-quality connectors and switches are specified to maintain reliable performance under the kind of repeated, high-cycle use common in production and broadcast environments.
