The ProCo Sound TradeTools Mic Splitter is built for live sound engineers, broadcast ENG crews, and remote recording technicians who need to feed multiple mic preamps from a single source without introducing ground loops or noise. Typical deployments include on-stage monitor splits for musicians, press conference feeds to broadcast and house mixers, and videography setups requiring simultaneous audio capture from a single mic. The transformer-isolated output delivers common-mode noise rejection that passive Y-cables simply cannot match, making this unit the right choice wherever EMI, RFI, or ground loop interference is a concern.

At the core of the design is the ProCo Sound MBT-1 transformer, which provides a floating, low-impedance output with wide, flat frequency response, ultra-low distortion, and minimal ringing or overshoot. Dual electrostatic shields and a GND/LIFT switch allow the operator to break ground loops on the fly without interrupting signal flow. All connections — Input, Direct Output, and Isolated Output — are made via standard 3-pin XLR-type connectors, so no specialty cabling or adapters are required in the field.

The Uni-box enclosure combines extruded aluminum side channels with 16-gauge steel top, bottom, and end plates, protecting connectors and switches from the physical abuse of touring and remote broadcast environments. The steel construction also provides magnetic shielding for the internal transformer, reducing susceptibility to electromagnetic interference in electrically noisy venues.
