The ProCo Sound SAS3 is purpose-built for sports event announcers, remote broadcast operations, and installed AV environments where a reliable momentary push-to-talk solution is required at the desk or commentary position. Its passive design eliminates the need for batteries or phantom power, making it a zero-maintenance addition to any signal chain — a meaningful advantage in permanent install and live event applications where operator simplicity is critical.
The SAS3 accepts any balanced or floating low-impedance microphone source, supporting both dynamic and condenser microphones without additional configuration. Two Mic Inputs — a gooseneck-mounted female XLR and a rear-panel female XLR — are wired in parallel and controlled by a single push-to-talk switch, giving engineers and integrators flexible routing options at the talent position. Output is via a standard male XLR, keeping the SAS3 compatible with any existing mic cable run to the console or DSP.
Where other desktop PTT solutions rely on plastic enclosures, the SAS3 is constructed from 16-gauge steel on the top panel and 11-gauge steel on the base — a level of build quality that holds up under the repetitive, high-contact use typical of live sports venues, courtrooms, podiums, and house-of-worship install positions. Steel construction also provides effective magnetic shielding against 60Hz AC hum, preserving signal integrity in environments with dense electrical infrastructure.
