The ProX CAT6 Audio/DMX Snake Box series gives live sound engineers and AV integrators a compact, cost-effective way to transport up to four balanced audio or DMX signals over a single run of CAT5, CAT5E, or CAT6 UTP or STP cable. Each unit is one half of a working pair: both the female XLR and male XLR versions are required to complete the signal path. The rugged metal enclosures are built to handle repeated touring and installation use, with gold-plated contacts and factory-tested performance over both CAT5 UTP and CAT6 STP cable.
These snake boxes support Mic, Line, and AES/EBU signal types simultaneously on the same cable, giving engineers the flexibility to configure the system for analog consoles, digital desks, or DMX lighting control without rewiring. Phantom power at 48V is supported when using STP shielded cable, eliminating the need for a separate power supply run to remote microphone positions. A ground-loop-free design keeps the signal clean across long cable runs typical of installed venues and staged productions.
For larger channel counts, additional pairs of snake boxes can be added to the system, making the series scalable from small club setups to multi-stage festival rigs. The flat frequency response across the full audio bandwidth and crosstalk performance well below audible thresholds distinguish these boxes from passive direct boxes or simple breakout adapters, delivering a true infrastructure-grade signal transport solution in a pocket-friendly form factor.
