The ProX XCP-DMX series is built for lighting technicians, touring production crews, AV integrators, and venue installers who need DMX cables engineered specifically for DMX data, not repurposed audio cable. DMX protocol operates at 110-ohm nominal impedance, a requirement standard audio cable does not meet. Running mismatched cable in a DMX chain causes signal degradation, erratic fixture behavior, and diagnostic headaches that compound as chain length grows. Every cable in the XCP-DMX series is built from the ground up to meet the correct electrical characteristics, keeping lighting control clean and reliable from console to the last fixture in the chain.
At the core of every XCP-DMX cable are 22 AWG oxygen-free copper conductors paired with a braided OFC copper compact shield. In live production environments where DMX lines share physical space with power distribution, audio snakes, dimmer packs, and architectural electrical systems, that braided shield is what keeps outside interference out of your data signal. Both ends are terminated with ProX branded all-metal XLR3 connectors featuring silver-plated contacts. The all-metal housing withstands the repeated connect-disconnect cycles of active touring and installed use without cracking or loosening, and silver-plated contacts resist corrosion to maintain a consistent, low-resistance connection across a full production season.
The XCP-DMX series covers the full range of real-world DMX run lengths, from tight fixture-to-fixture links and console-to-controller patches to long truss spans, catwalk drops, and front-of-house runs on wide outdoor stages.
