The Q-SYS DCA1644 is a four-channel power amplifier designed specifically for cinema sound system integrators and system designers working in small to medium theater environments. Where general-purpose commercial amplifiers require additional wiring and configuration to participate in a cinema signal chain, the DCA1644 connects directly to DCM and DCP Digital Cinema Monitor and Processor systems through its onboard HD15 DataPort connectors, one per pair of channels. This native integration point reduces field wiring labor and positions the amplifier as a component in a complete cinema infrastructure rather than a standalone device.
The 2U, 14-inch-deep chassis is sized for console-mounted rack systems in projection booths where space is constrained. Gain control security covers protect against accidental misadjustment in unsupervised environments, and active inrush limiting prevents nuisance tripping of facility circuit breakers during power-on sequences. Per-channel DIP switches covering clip limiting, LF filtering, filter frequency selection, input mode, and bridge mode give engineers precise tuning control at the rack without outboard gear.
For tri-amp configurations in larger screens, the DCA1644 handles mid and high-frequency assignments with AB+B output circuitry and a damping factor exceeding 500. Bridged mono mode extends output capacity for demanding screen channels, and comprehensive protection against short circuit, open circuit, thermal, ultrasonic, and RF faults keeps systems operational through the demanding duty cycles of daily theatrical exhibition. A variable-speed fan with rear-to-front airflow maintains thermal stability in densely populated rack enclosures.
