The Q-SYS DCA1824 is engineered for cinema surround sound installations where channel density, load flexibility, and system integration matter. Each of its four channels can drive up to four 8-ohm speakers in parallel, making it practical for surround arrays in medium to large auditoriums without requiring additional amplification. Its 2Ω rating at 450W per channel in EIA configuration gives integrators headroom when driving complex parallel loads, while bridged mono mode extends output to 900W into 4Ω for LFE or subwoofer applications.
The onboard HD15 DataPort — one per pair of channels — connects directly to QSC DCM Digital Cinema Monitor and DCP Digital Cinema Processor units, enabling centralized monitoring and control without additional interface hardware. This integration path reduces both wiring runs and commissioning labor in multi-screen installations. A rear-mounted DIP switch bank provides per-channel control of clip limiting, LF filter on/off, LF filter frequency selection (30 or 50 Hz), input parallel/stereo mode, and bridge configuration — all accessible without opening signal chains.
At 2RU and 14 inches deep, the DCA1824 fits console-mounted racks where space is constrained. Active inrush limiting protects building circuits at power-on, and full short circuit, open circuit, thermal, ultrasonic, and RF protection keeps loads safe under fault conditions. The recessed front-panel gain knobs with a security cover prevent inadvertent level changes after commissioning — a practical detail for unattended cinema equipment rooms.
