The Q-SYS DCA1824 targets cinema integrators who need high channel density, flexible load handling, and native integration with QSC digital cinema infrastructure. Its four channels can each drive parallel speaker arrays down to 2 ohms, making it a practical single-rack-unit solution for surround configurations in medium to large auditoriums that would otherwise require additional amplification stages. Bridged mono mode extends that capability to 900W into 4 ohms, covering LFE and subwoofer channels from the same chassis without a separate dedicated amplifier.
What separates the DCA1824 from generic commercial power amplifiers is its onboard HD15 DataPort, which connects directly to QSC DCM Digital Cinema Monitor and DCP Digital Cinema Processor units. This native integration path eliminates additional interface hardware, reduces wiring runs, and simplifies monitoring across multi-screen installations. Rear-panel DIP switches give integrators per-channel control over clip limiting, LF filtering, input configuration, and bridge mode, all without interrupting signal chains during setup or service calls.
Designed for the realities of unattended cinema equipment rooms, the DCA1824 includes active inrush limiting to protect building circuits during power-on sequencing, along with comprehensive fault protection covering short circuit, open circuit, thermal, ultrasonic, and RF conditions. Recessed front-panel gain knobs behind a security cover prevent inadvertent level changes after commissioning. At 2RU and 14 inches deep, it fits constrained console-mounted racks without requiring a larger bay, and variable-speed rear-to-front fan cooling manages thermal load in enclosed rack environments.
