The Q-SYS QIO-GP8x8 is designed for AV integrators and system designers who need to bridge non-networked control hardware into a Q-SYS ecosystem without co-locating I/O at the core processing unit. By offloading GPIO to a dedicated network expander, installers can position control interfaces exactly where devices are, reducing cabling runs and simplifying system architecture in corporate AV, hospitality, and higher education installations.
In practice, the QIO-GP8x8 connects occupancy sensors, push buttons, LED indicators, relay-driven buzzers, and contact-closure devices directly to the Q-SYS network fabric. Up to four QIO expanders can be daisy-chained on a single network run, giving system designers a straightforward path to scaling I/O without adding network drops. PoE support further reduces infrastructure requirements by eliminating the need for local power outlets at each expander location.
Unlike generic GPIO interface boxes that require custom middleware or proprietary drivers, the QIO-GP8x8 integrates natively through Q-SYS Designer Software with drag-and-drop block placement and is fully managed through Q-SYS Reflect Enterprise Manager. The compact quarter-rack, 1RU footprint accepts surface mounting hardware included in the box, while an optional rack kit accommodates density-focused equipment rooms.
