The Q-SYS QIO-S4 is built for AV integrators and system designers working in corporate, higher education, and house-of-worship environments who need localized serial control without extending cable runs back to the core processor. By placing serial I/O at the point of need, the QIO-S4 reduces cabling complexity and eliminates signal degradation from long RS-232 runs, making it the practical choice over patching serial endpoints directly to a centralized core.

The unit appears natively in Q-SYS Designer Software, supporting drag-and-drop configuration without third-party middleware or custom drivers. Power is delivered over a standard IEEE 802.3af PoE port, removing the need for a dedicated power run at most install locations. A 24 VDC input is also available for locations where PoE is not available. Up to four units can be daisy-chained on a single network drop using local DC power passthrough, allowing serial port counts to scale without adding network infrastructure.

The quarter-rack, 1RU form factor suits surface mounting above ceiling tiles, attachment to the back of display enclosures, or rack installation with the optional QIO-RMK kit. Integration with Q-SYS Reflect enables remote monitoring and management, making the QIO-S4 a dependable component in multi-vendor control environments where distributed serial endpoints are the norm rather than the exception.
