The Q-SYS QIO-S4 is purpose-built for AV integrators and system designers who need to bridge Q-SYS processing infrastructure with third-party serial control devices — displays, projectors, matrix switchers, or any RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 endpoint — without routing those connections back to the core processor. By offloading I/O to a dedicated peripheral, the QIO-S4 keeps rack space and cabling requirements minimal while preserving the scalability demanded by corporate AV, higher education, and house-of-worship installations.
Native Q-LAN integration means the unit appears directly in Q-SYS Designer Software for drag-and-drop configuration, eliminating third-party middleware or custom drivers. Power is delivered over a standard PoE port conforming to IEEE 802.3af, removing the need for a local power run in most installs — though a 24 VDC input is available when PoE is not practical. Up to four QIO expanders can be daisy-chained on a single network drop with local DC power passthrough, making it straightforward to scale serial port counts without adding network infrastructure.
The quarter-rack, 1RU form factor is equally at home surface-mounted above a ceiling tile, attached to the back of a display enclosure, or rack-mounted with the optional QIO-RMK kit. For multi-vendor control environments where centralized serial I/O would otherwise require longer, noise-prone cable runs, the QIO-S4 provides a clean, distributed alternative that integrates directly into Q-SYS Reflect for remote monitoring and management.
