The RapcoHorizon STL-1 is a passive, multi-mode stereo direct box built for live sound engineers and installed audio technicians who need flexible signal conversion without adding power requirements to the signal chain. It targets scenarios where keyboard rigs, backing track playback systems, or stereo instrument sources must be fed into a console or snake efficiently and without noise or ground issues.
In stereo mode, the STL-1 operates as two independent passive DIs simultaneously, handling left and right channels through isolated transformer-balanced outputs. In mono mode, the unit combines two high-impedance unbalanced inputs into a single low-impedance balanced output — a practical solution when channel count on a snake is limited. Alternatively, the same two inputs can be summed and then split into two separate balanced mono outputs, giving engineers even more routing flexibility on the fly.
Two included input shunts suppress feedback at the source, and the panel-mounted switch array puts stereo/mono selection plus dual ground lifts within easy reach during setup. With dual IMT-1 transformers providing the isolation and no battery or phantom power dependency, the STL-1 is a reliable workhorse for touring rigs, house of worship installs, and theater productions where passive signal integrity is a priority.
