The RapcoHorizon TDI-1 is built for live production engineers and installed sound operators who regularly integrate consumer playback sources — tape decks, CD players, VCRs, and DVD players — into professional signal chains. It accepts stereo RCA inputs, runs them through an isolation transformer, and delivers a single low-impedance balanced XLR output compatible with any mixing console's mic preamp input, eliminating ground loops and hum introduced by unbalanced consumer gear.
The two independent volume potentiometers give the operator direct control over left and right channel levels before the signal hits the console. This is particularly useful for split-track backing track applications where the music and click or guide vocal must be managed separately at the source. The steel enclosure provides both physical durability on crowded stage floors and additional shielding against electromagnetic interference from nearby power transformers or lighting dimmers.
