The RCF ND840 compression driver is built for system integrators, speaker OEMs, and touring engineers who require a high-performance replacement or upgrade driver for horn-loaded enclosures. With a 3-inch pure titanium diaphragm and 1.4-inch exit throat, it covers the full range of professional two-way and three-way speaker builds where consistent high-frequency output and low distortion are critical. Its compact form factor makes it practical for both custom fabrication and direct OEM substitution in tight enclosure designs.
RCF's proprietary Direct Drive kapton technology bonds the voice coil former directly to the titanium diaphragm, reducing mass and improving transient response compared to conventional adhesive-bonded assemblies. A neodymium magnet assembly keeps the driver lightweight for flown or portable systems, while a copper demodulation ring reduces inductance-related harmonic distortion at the top of the frequency range. The vented, double-roll titanium suspension was developed through finite element modeling for extended low-end driver response and controlled excursion under high-power operation.
Available in 8 ohm and 16 ohm versions, the ND840 series accommodates a range of crossover and amplifier configurations common in installed sound and live production. The 3-slot aluminum phase plug provides optimized geometry for even coverage when paired with constant-directivity horns.
