The RNR1 represents Rupert Neve's first venture into microphone design, addressing a fundamental limitation that has defined ribbon microphones for decades. While ribbon mics are prized for their warm, natural character and exceptional midrange detail, they have traditionally suffered from high-frequency attenuation. The RNR1 solves this through a hand-tensioned 2.5µm aluminum ribbon paired with two custom Rupert Neve-designed transformers and integrated active circuitry that preserves ultra-wide frequency response without sacrificing the sonic character that makes ribbons essential in professional studios and touring productions.

Production teams in classical recording, vocal tracking, guitar cabinets, orchestral sessions, and live concert miking benefit from a ribbon that maintains full presence across the spectrum. The precision-machined chassis, scalloped edges, and custom suspension mount deliver acoustic optimization for both close-miking techniques and room capture, while the 137 dB maximum SPL rating and phantom-protected design handle demanding on-stage and studio environments. Gold-plated XLR connectors and the included shock mount ensure reliable signal integrity across years of professional use.
