The sE Electronics RNT-U is a flagship side-address tube condenser microphone engineered in collaboration with Rupert Neve Designs, combining hand-crafted capsule construction with discrete Class-A electronics and legendary 5088 console op-amps. Purpose-built for professional recording studios, broadcast facilities, and high-end production environments, the RNT-U excels on vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, orchestral arrangements, piano, woodwinds, percussion, and room ambience capture.
The microphone features a precisely tuned dual-diaphragm capsule individually hand-crafted and gold-sputtered in sE's factory, paired with a custom tube circuit optimized for the first transformer stage. Nine switchable polar patterns—spanning omni, cardioid, and figure-eight with three graduated steps between each—enable precise control over direct and ambient sound pickup. Switchable gain settings (-12 / 0 / +12 dB) and a 151 dB maximum SPL accommodate everything from delicate ambience to close-miking of loud instruments, while dual output transformers deliver the sonic signature and isolation characteristics sE developed with Rupert Neve Designs.
Built with all-metal construction, gold-plated XLR connectors, and comprehensive shielding, the RNT-U rejects electrical interference and maintains professional appearance through years of studio service. The included RNT Floor Box power supply provides dedicated power, eliminating reliance on phantom power, and ships with a custom shock-mount, 8-pin cable, flight case, and wooden protective box.
