The VR1 is a passive ribbon microphone engineered for live sound, studio tracking, and touring applications where detailed transient capture and natural tonal character matter. Unlike budget ribbon designs, the VR1 achieves full 20Hz–18kHz response through a hand-tensioned 2.5 µm aluminum ribbon and custom mechanical tuning by sE's engineering team. The all-metal housing and gold-plated XLR connector provide electromagnetic shielding and durability for road and studio use. At under 0.75" thick and weighing just over 8 ounces, it balances protection and portability. Phantom power does not damage the microphone, though it is not required for operation.
