It suits two-bus mixing, subgroup and stem processing, and hybrid analog and in-the-box mixing workflows.

What separates this unit from fixed-character alternatives is the ability to shape tone. You can move between the clean sound associated with 9000 K consoles and the harder edge of the original 4000 console outboard, so one compressor can cover polished pop mixes and aggressive rock or hip-hop buses. Settings are easy to note and return to between sessions, which matters when revisiting a mix or matching a reference.

Engineers can also print individual stems while keying the compressor from the full mix, so each stem reacts the way it does in the complete mix rather than compressing in isolation.
