The TOA N-8000RS CU is a sub-station interface unit built for system integrators deploying TOA's N-8000 packet audio IP intercom infrastructure in facilities that require a bridge between analog wired sub-stations and an IP LAN backbone. It supports up to 16 sub-stations per unit via two-core shielded cable runs of up to 800 meters, making it well suited for large-venue installations such as convention centers, transit terminals, government facilities, and broadcast complexes where wired sub-stations must coexist with IP-connected master stations.
Unlike standalone IP intercoms that require every endpoint to be network-connected, the N-8000RS CU allows existing or new analog sub-stations to participate fully in the N-8000 ecosystem. Sub-stations connected through the interface unit can receive paging calls and place calls to any master station on the network. The system supports a combined maximum of 192 LAN-connected N-8000 components, giving integrators substantial scalability without requiring a forklift upgrade of field wiring. With two speech links available simultaneously, the unit handles concurrent two-way conversations without blocking.
Installation flexibility is a practical advantage for integrators working across varied rack environments and architectural constraints. The unit ships with rack mounting brackets for 1U EIA rack deployment and includes all terminal plugs and hardware needed for immediate commissioning. An optional wall mounting bracket extends placement options where rack space is unavailable. Front-panel controls include a reset switch, and forced air cooling keeps the unit operating reliably in enclosed rack environments around the clock.
