The TOA N-8640SB is a sub-station component kit designed for systems integrators and AV installation professionals who need to embed IP intercom functionality into a custom enclosure or operation panel. It contains the internal PC board and mechanical parts of the N-8640DS IP Door Station, minus the front panel, giving integrators full control over the physical form factor while retaining the full electronic capability of the N-8000 Series IP intercom platform.
This kit suits access control integrations, building automation projects, and permanent installed-sound environments where off-the-shelf door station enclosures do not fit the architectural or operational requirements. The board connects to an IP network via a standard RJ45 port and draws power through PoE (IEEE 802.3af), eliminating the need for a separate power run in most installations. An optional AC adapter provides an alternative power path where PoE infrastructure is not available.
Audio performance is built around a hands-free full-duplex circuit with a 300 Hz to 7 kHz speech range and 16 kHz voice sampling, giving clear intelligibility for door communication. Control I/O includes one contact input channel and five output channels covering both open collector and relay contact types, enabling integration with door strikes, access readers, and building management systems. The N-8640SB is the right choice when a project demands IP intercom capability that must conform to a custom panel layout rather than a manufacturer-defined form factor.
