The TOA TS-821 Y is the chairperson unit designed for the TS-820 infrared wireless conference system, built for boardrooms, council chambers, legislative halls, and any installed venue where cordless operation and clean RF-free audio are required. The infrared transmission design eliminates cable runs at delegate and chairman positions, allowing the system to be deployed and struck quickly without permanent infrastructure changes.
What separates the TS-821 Y from standard delegate units is the priority speech function: a dedicated key that immediately takes precedence over all TS-822 delegate stations, giving the chair control over floor management without routing through a separate control surface. Two independent headphone outputs with individual volume controls support a translator or assistant seated alongside the chairperson. The integrated 0.2W monitor speaker and a remaining battery indicator round out the operational feedback tools a moderator needs during long sessions.
Power flexibility is built in: the unit runs on the optional BP-900A lithium-ion battery for approximately 10 hours of continuous operation, or from the AD-0910 AC adapter when a power outlet is accessible. Microphone connectivity is via a dedicated XLR-4-31 terminal, compatible with the optional TS-923 standard-type or TS-924 long-type microphone capsules, which are sold separately. For AV integrators specifying permanent or semi-permanent conference installations, the TS-821 Y provides a complete, infrastructure-light chairman solution within the TS-820 ecosystem.
