The TOA YC-831HSW-AM is a surface-mount backbox designed specifically for the N-SP80AS1 and N-SP80VS1 door station models within the TOA N-SP80 SIP intercom system. It is the hardware infrastructure solution for integrators who need to deploy door stations in demanding physical environments where recessed mounting or standard enclosures are not viable. The surface-mount form factor accommodates clean, code-compliant installations in concrete, masonry, or finished wall surfaces without requiring in-wall rough-in depth.
The integrated heater extends the operational temperature range to -22 degrees F, making this backbox suitable for exterior installations in cold climates, parking structures, loading docks, and other uncontrolled environments. Power for the heater requires an external 24V AC or DC supply such as the optional AD-246 unit, which should be factored into the installation design. The tamper switch is wired to a control input on the door station itself, enabling the system to trigger a notification call if the enclosure is opened or disturbed, a critical feature for secure access control and monitored entry deployments. The steel painted enclosure in gray finish integrates into commercial and institutional architecture with a professional appearance.
