Universal Audio VOLT2G2 Volt 2 Gen 2 USB Audio Interface With Tone Shaping

The Universal Audio Volt 2 Gen 2 is a 2-in/4-out USB audio interface designed for music creators and recording engineers who need professional conversion and analog character in a compact, portable form factor. Built by the same team responsible for the Apollo interface line, the Volt 2 Gen 2 brings 32-bit/192 kHz audio conversion and onboard Tone Shaping Preamps to home studios, location recording sessions, and mobile production setups where space and simplicity matter without sacrificing sound quality.

The dual Tone Shaping Preamps offer 60 dB of gain and three selectable character modes, giving engineers access to the sonic texture of classic analog mic preamps without requiring outboard gear. A Smart Display provides hands-on, at-a-glance control over critical parameters, reducing menu diving during sessions. The interface connects via USB 2.0 and includes a dedicated USB External Power input port, making it practical for both desktop use and power-flexible scenarios. A stereo monitor output and a stereo headphone output with its own cue mix round out the routing options for tracking and overdubbing workflows.

For producers and engineers comparing compact USB interfaces, the Volt 2 Gen 2 differentiates itself through the Tone Shaping Preamp system, which offers real analog-style color rather than clean-only preamp designs common in this class. Mac and Windows compatibility broadens its appeal across production environments.
