Waves Curves Equator is a dynamic resonance suppression plugin designed for mixing engineers, producers, and post-production professionals who need transparent, surgical control over problematic frequencies. Whether working on a full mix, individual vocal, instrument bus, or sample, Equator identifies and removes resonances, mud, and tonal inconsistencies without introducing coloration or artifacts — thanks to its linear phase filters.
What sets Equator apart from conventional dynamic EQs is its Learn engine: the plugin analyzes incoming audio and generates a personalized suppression curve tailored to that specific source, protecting against overprocessing via its built-in Safeguard function. The Learn via Sidechain mode takes this further by learning the spectral content of a clashing source and applying the inverse curve dynamically to the part being mixed — a workflow-changing approach to frequency unmasking that static EQ cannot replicate.
Equator also includes Shape and Tilt controls for broad tonal steering, three adjustable crossovers, and a 2x8 node architecture for detailed curve management. The Rider feature enables attenuation only when sidechain audio is present, keeping processing transparent during quieter passages. A zero-latency Curves Equator Live component is included for real-time tracking and monitoring sessions where latency compensation is not available.
