The Yorkville PROMPAIII is a two-channel standalone mic preamp built for studios, project rooms, and production setups that need more control than typical mixer or interface inputs provide. Each channel accepts either an XLR microphone source or 1/4" instrument signal, making it useful for tracking vocals, instruments, voiceover, and other front-end recording tasks from a single 2U rackmount unit.

Version III adds selectable voicing so users can choose between a warm tube path or a clean solid state path depending on the source and session goal. Variable microphone impedance expands tonal shaping options, especially when working with dynamic and ribbon microphones, while the low cut filter helps manage unwanted low-frequency buildup before the signal reaches the rest of the chain. A Character switch is also included to improve vocal intelligibility and add presence when needed.

For integration into a range of systems, the PROMPAIII provides balanced XLR and 1/4" outputs, selectable +4 dBu or -10 dBV operation, analog VU metering, and a universal internal power supply. Combined with discrete Class A FET microphone preamps and front-panel control over gain structure and signal shaping, it offers a practical analog front end for users who want flexible channel control in a robust rack format.
