Amplifiers do pretty much what they describe—they amplify. In the case of Power Amplifiers (sometimes called audio power amplifiers or power amps), they increase power availability to meet the needs of an electronic source. Power amplifiers increase low-powered audio signals, such as those from microphones, instruments, loudspeakers, or headphones.
