The AtlasIED IP-SDM-72 is engineered for commercial and institutional environments where a single communications platform must serve both legacy analog paging and modern IP notification simultaneously. The integrated 25V/70V transformer with a baffle-mounted selector switch lets integrators connect the speaker to an existing analog paging system during installation, then flip to network operation once the IP controller and software are live — no re-pulls, no speaker removal. This phased-deployment capability makes it especially well-suited for corporate campuses, K-12 and higher education facilities, healthcare networks, government buildings, and transportation hubs that are migrating infrastructure in stages.

For AV and IT integrators deploying Singlewire InformaCast, Syn-Apps Revolution, or direct SIP server environments, the IP-SDM-72 auto-registers on the Voice VLAN using SLP, DHCP Option 72, or IEDNet+, sharing QoS policies with VoIP handsets. The onboard LCD scrolls visual text notifications during active alerts and displays synchronized NTP time in standby, eliminating the need for a separate master clock. The omni-directional electret condenser microphone enables bidirectional communication from the speaker location to any PC or phone handset, supporting ADA-compliant effective communication requirements under Title II.

GPI/O ports provide trigger inputs for third-party critical alert integration, while auxiliary balanced line-in and line-out connections support zone-level signal routing.
