The JBL Control 440CS/T is an in-ceiling subwoofer in the Control 400 Premium Coverage Series, built for distributed audio systems that require low-frequency support from a ceiling-mounted format. It uses a 200 mm (8 in) woofer with SBR surround and a built-in passive crossover network, allowing integration as part of a subwoofer-satellite configuration. Support for both 70V/100V multi-tap operation and 8-ohm direct input gives added flexibility when matching the speaker to system design requirements.

The integrated enclosure uses large, tapered dual ports to support smooth bass performance, while the reinforced construction is designed for demanding installed AV environments. Mounting details are intended to improve installation consistency, with top or side cable entry at the terminal cover and captive hand-screws for secure access. Adaptable captive dogears accommodate a range of ceiling thicknesses, helping streamline overhead installation.

For finished spaces, the full-face magnetic grille is paintable for a cleaner architectural appearance. The unit is also rated IP33 and is suitable for use in air handling spaces per the listed standards, making it appropriate for commercial and professional audio installations where placement, system voltage, and ceiling integration all matter.
