The Martin Lighting VDO Sceptron XB is built for lighting designers, rental operators, and installation professionals who need a single fixture capable of functioning as both a precision lighting tool and a creative video element. Available in 320 mm and 1000 mm lengths, the series fits tight architectural installs, concert stage structures, broadcast sets, and temporary outdoor builds equally well. IP65 protection means the fixture moves freely between indoor and exterior applications without a housing change, while a convection-cooled aluminum chassis keeps the profile slim and the weight low enough for truss, floor, or column mounting in virtually any orientation.
What separates the VDO Sceptron XB from conventional RGB pixel-battens is its RGBW LED engine and Full Gamut Pixel Calibration system. The fourth white channel lifts CRI, TM-30, and TLCI scores well above typical RGB sources, making the fixture suitable for camera-facing applications such as broadcast backdrops, LED walls, and talent illumination where color fidelity matters. Calibration is applied pixel-to-pixel and fixture-to-fixture, so units from different production batches can be combined on a continuous surface without visible tonal drift. The P3 Mix channel lets an operator crossfade the same fixture smoothly between DMX lighting control and P3 video mapping without interrupting the show.
Control flexibility is a core design priority. Art-Net versions 1 through 4, sACN, and Martin P3 are all supported simultaneously, with automatic protocol detection eliminating manual switching. RDM over Art-Net enables remote addressing and firmware updates via Martin Companion or a P3 System Controller. A stand-alone mode with up to 20 programmable scenes covers deployments where no controller is present. A full ecosystem of interchangeable diffusers, graze and blade lenses, glare shields, and a versatile rigging accessory range gives designers precise control over beam character and mounting configuration across every use case the series is asked to handle.
